Koln.tv, which serves the regions of Cologne, Bonn, Leverkusen and the surrounding area with a daily news show, magazine series, talk show and local sports, has been transformed from a linear TV station into a social-TV platform.

It is employing joiz Global’s social-TV software, turning audience interaction into behavioral data that creates invaluable advertising and cross-selling opportunities that did not exist before.

The move is part of M. Dumont Schauberg’s ambitions to turn the TV station and its sister newspapers, the tabloid Express and broadsheet Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, into digital-first media brands.

With that in mind, M. DuMont Schauberg is melding a range of Koln.tv shows with the two newspapers’ digital platforms: express.de and ksta.de, which record more 20 million visits per month combined.
